the hearts divide

the hearts divide

A Poem by d.o.t

this heart is split, one side is fine

the other longs for poisoned wine

the taste divine like fruit of vine

yet sour tinge procured from lime

a body thin and full of flavour

demands the tongues un-thwarted favour

in which is sworn for only truth

the mouth when forced shall come uncouth

a mind as free as shackled slave

shall do as told until the grave

a page unturned shall gather dust

yet untreated steel shall learn to rust

and flame shall burn till wick is through

the end is nigh, the meaning true

a heart in two shall never do as destiny requests it too

one side shall rot till beat is mute

no ear to hear not one acute

and when the side returns to ash

a flame shall rise a blinding flash

consuming both with heat of sun

to create a heart at peace as one
