I Do; Forever

I Do; Forever

A Poem by November Gold
"

In forgiveness comes true healing, and frees us to move forward into the promise that lies ahead

"

I Do; forever

I said I do;

And you did too

Who would have known that

It meant just for a moment?

Who could have predicted that

Life would all just change

And we would never be the same;

Not me, not you.

Young and hopeful, living

And growing that’s who we were,

My Knight in shining armor, a kid like me;

Seeking.

There was no way to know

The roads would split and our paths

Would part, but we can’t be sad, but instead be glad

For all the life we experienced, the moments we shared that we each

Learned from, and the ways that each of us became better just by being together in that time and place, even though it wasn’t forever.

I never quit on us, on you or on myself

I just grew honest enough to realize that we had

Made our journey together and it was done,

I would do it all again if I had to,

And I’d do it just the same;

Lessons learned and wisdom gained; my soul

 Forever changed.

I could not have gotten here

Without first being there; I thank you

From my heart for  the seasons that we shared.

Pain and struggle both of us have known,

Wounds that were open, finally feeling healed.

Love and light I will always send when asking

for your protection,

For without you there would be no them;

How can my heart be anything but grateful?

In dazzling green eyes and beautiful smiles

I am reminded of a time when I said I do,

and you said it too,

And we did for the season of our forever.

You have me breathless. All the pain and then this grace found in your forgiveness and every word speaks a truth to those who have experienced forever in a season... this landed right in my heart and soul and has given me something to think about..xx

even your author's note was poetic! this is beautiful. your heart must be beautiful too because truly there is no other way for one to write this piece without that being the case. i was never able to think this way or to write this piece after my divorce. should have tried but it wasn't in my heart to do so. truly love your note. wraps up this poem with a pretty red bow. okay i could read you all day but i need to get going. shall return soon. thank you for the amazing poems.

Kiddo, this is so heart felt. Tears welled in my eyes reading it. You are an amazing writer, so gifted, so loved, so beautiful, and so intelligent. A woman of excellence. I am so proud of the stands you take and the ones you leave, always considerate of others, sometimes forgetting about yourself, but eventually, you do the need to take care of you, This is an outstanding poem of gratitude Kudos!!!

Oh wow love!
Absolutely breathtaking! True forgiveness in the heart ey? Not always easy but when we take our vows seriously...what other option is there but to forgive and embrace what light is left?
Exquisite work

Some words are more meaningful then others. When we agree to the vow of marriage. We believe it is forever. I like the way you made your point in this poem. A very strong ending to a excellent poem.

I battered my eyelids
one to many times
and found you gone

I paused for breath
once to often
and found you'd moved on

I keep you close
in others eyes
for we in them are one

love the Poem especially the forgiving nature of the piece, sweet and light. Keep em' coming

I hate answering this question. It requires me to tell you who I am...the problem is that I am still learning about who I am everyday, and sometimes what I might tell you today, could change by this t.. more..
