Synapse

Synapse

A Poem by Meghan
"

I'm most criticized for this piece, I think. I don't have an up-to-date opinion on it, myself.

"

It was an anatomical deviation

for which I sought condemnation;

an incidental cognitive martyrdom

by learned capitulation.

Brains bound tightly by bridge,

a nexus strung from rope and plaster,

above a sinuous chasm

swimming with imps and neurotransmitters.

From dreams I count my sleep,

exhausted upon waking--

subconscious stipulation

to this lucid accusation.

Passion dulls the cerebral caucus

leaking from my eyes and fingers.

It tastes metallic,

self-damnation.

Such an in depth outlook here.
the last two stanza's intrigued me the most.
Very nicely written.

Personally for me it's too complex and leaves no emotion. Swimming with imps? But others have put it in their libraries so...

Wow, seldom do I see such fiery poems with such exuberant vocabulary, coupled with an exhaustive knowledge of science to boot! I cannot vouch for the accuracy of your scientific sentences but I can, however, vouch for the dazzling artistry this poem displays! Somehow, it made me feel as if life is a strange medley of dreams and reality, represented by neurons that synapse amiably :) Superb poem!
