Dear Tiffany

Dear Tiffany

A Poem by Olivia
"

This is a poem to Tiffany. This writing made me blame her less, and realise that her, me, we're victims not perpetrators.

"

Tiffany you had such a voice,

Voice like sugar

You’re sweet until you’re sticky

The crystals washed out by your

Lies, lies, lies

And you were drowning in it,

Something inside telling you

That your truth wasn’t enough

Maybe you thought

That you weren’t enough.

The desperate craving for the sweet,

Sweet validation

You couldn’t find internally

Texting Ada on the hour,

So you didn’t have to be alone with your thoughts.

Even after the storm,

After the hurt and confusion

In the clear, new day

I can’t blame you.

You just did what they told you,

Acted how they trained you

Compulsive liar?

Repulsive lies.

Made so we would shoot down each other,

You were the sniper

But you couldn’t survive the fall.

The perfect cookie-cutter,

Sugar and spice.

The perfect example of when the world

tells us we’re not enough.

We hide our pain

You repaint your pain

Hide the jagged edges with your sweet voice

And their

Lies, lies, lies.

Author's Note

Olivia
I hope you can see the shift in how I viewed her. This one's been in the making for a while, I really didn't know how to finish what I wanted to say to her. This is probably one of the only poems I've written that I edited for a long period of time.
There is a big focus on the sweet imagery and the kind of need for male validation and the way young girls are supposed to be sweet and nice.
Enjoy!

Hello, Olivia! :)
This was an interesting read. I'd really like to know the full story. It seems to be a betrayal, but somehow reasonable. Thanks for sharing.

Strong, very strong. "you're sweet until you're sticky" is a great line. While I am much to old to know or care much for any of Ms S music, you still manage to hold my attention to the end. and I am rewarded for that with killer closing of "we hide our pain/you repaint your pain"

look forward to reading more of your work Olivia
