Dreams

Dreams

A Poem by Olu Dumare

My subconscious gaze

A nebulous haze

In a world where the strange

Is not so strange

Where the sane is deranged

The insane is not crazed

And it’s not until you awake

That you realize it’s fake

The clouds of dream worlds,

Fade and evaporate

And you contemplate, to elucidate

If what you faced was truly fate

Or was this derangement

Sublime entertainment

The mind’s containment

Finding arrangement

Free of design and defined restrainment

Just time to find divine ordainment

Well let’s define real and the power of choice

If I wasn’t inside, then why are you moist?

If you weren’t really here engaging me

Then please explain this stain in my briefs

The power of thought,

the strength of the mind

The body’s a slave, indentured to time

The dream girl’s a myth, I beg to differ

Her scent on my lips lets me know that I kissed her…
