Swim Club

A Poem by Olu Dumare

A river’s too shallow to relate

To the depths of an ocean

My love was like a sea

She drowned

At least I taught her to swim good

And the benefits of breath control

He’ll benefit from my instruction

All teachers hate

To see their star pupils go

But go she must

From novice snorkeler

To expert scuba diver

She’ll never drown again

No worries…

Every graduation

Signals a new semester…
