The Ballad of War

The Ballad of War

A Chapter by Omikron

Oh, the song of champions, In our dreams, it resounds, To be hailed a winner, By any means, it surrounds.

In the gaze of strangers, Eyes shut tight as we strike, For if those eyes were open, We'd look just alike.

Shatter every mirror, Escape into the wild, In wars, devoid of kinship, No mother, father, or child.

As you're torn apart, Does your last breath carry The lament of the little one, Whose dreams were sold, unwary.

Oh, the ballad of illusions, Out of tune, out of place, It sings that we are different, When we share the same face.
