BETRAYED

The Christian church....killing it's wounded.

It started as a plea for help
From one whose mind was ill.
The sickness of a broken heart
That swallowed bitter pills.

The first intent...to gain control
Of things that went astray,
By writing words in expose
Entreating....how to pray.

The rules were followed one by one
And neatly written down,
But weren't accepted as intent...
Response came with a frown.

Oh Christian church so careful to
Send judgement by default.
Instead of love and kindness there...
As only Jesus taught.

We kill our wounded day by day.
It is not what He planned.
The world as witness laughs and scorns...
While every hope is banned.

I'm not religious but do believe in God and Jesus Christ who's story has clearly been twisted out of sight, most religions have created much that was never in the sayings of their prophets, the teachings of Jesus and others are quite simple and yet he has been used to justify war and the pursuit of wealth yet as i recall he turned the money lenders from the temple, the only time i heard of him showing anger, so again dear Miss Sharon you got me up on my soapbox, so i'll jump down and say what an excellent poem you have written yet again :)
