THE REASON WHY THEY CAME

THE REASON WHY THEY CAME

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

A wranglers' life is hard at best....

"
THE REASON WHY THEY CAME

With dusty trails and tumbleweeds
The stage is often set...
Where no man comes to ride alone
Or leave with his regrets.

The work is hard the days are long,
But cowboys...they don't mind.
They signed up for this weary life
To leave their thoughts behind.

Their girl is watin' way back home,
To welcome him real nice.
She's happy just to be there...
And she knew she'd pay a price.

A wranglers' life is hard at best
But worth it all the same.
'Cause they know it's the only way...
The reason why they came!

Hi Sharon, sets me on those Western trails, with those Cowboys ridin' through all weathers. Tough men. I only know of this life through books and movies. I love the content of this write. It takes me deep into my imagination and that is ever a place I wish to be. An outstanding write, Sharon. I shall ever see those men, riding tall, standing tall and fighting hard. Not to forget the ladies they leave behind, they have to be strong ladies to deal with their loneliness. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs always....Mike.

I just love this one, Sharon. I think the words could be lyrics to a country song. I can picture the girlfriend waiting for her man to come home knowing he will be worn out. Hard work....that's what keeps our country going. Lydi**

Thanks so much Lidi for such a sweet review! ~Sharon
Love the meter of this, almost musical, a country and western ring to it, intended or no?! The kind of life and relationship you tell is quite incredible, a way of life t hat must go on and on endlessly, always hard, perhaps erratic wins and down time.. but that last line is the truth.. i rather think.. how it has to be.. because who knows what else exists, outside it.. wherever.. ..

Thank you for a very nice review my dear! ~Sharon
Dusty trails and tumbleweeds, brave deeds and cattle breeds, a life in the saddle on the open plain with cattle bawlin in the sun or rain, slumped in the saddle with the winds a-blowing, snow so thick who knows where their goin, but a feelin you don't get elsewhere, being part of nature with its clean fresh, a life with which you can't compare......))))))
Thanks Sharon, always enjoy that western stuff where men are men and women are tough (and exceptionally attractive!!!)

This triggered a memory for me...of my late father..whom was not a wrangler...nor lived a wranglers life...yet I see similarities of your wrangler and my father....within your lovely poem that reflects his life as a man growing up in the Caribbean looking to provide for his bride.

'The work is hard the days are long,
But cowboys...they don't mind.
They signed up for this weary life
To leave their thoughts behind'

He spoke about looking for work where ever he could find it. Taking him away from his home for weeks on end....and how his days were long and yes the work was hard....yet he perservered because.......my mother was his reason why he always came back.

Thanks for sharing...

Yes, a hard and often lonely life...reminds me also of the wonderful people I knew in Vermont from our summer trips there...the farmers who never had vacations...had to milk the dairy cows twice a day...
before sunup to after sunset.
they loved the life, they had to.
this is such a good poem Sharon...and no reviews yet? What the heck is happening here at WC?
We can't just write, we have to read to...and jot down a response ...feedback...the pen goes dry without it.
