Teddy

Teddy

A Poem by FantasyWriter01
"

The sad story of a little girl, her teddy, and a tragic accident. One that I am quite proud of.

"
Doctor told me,
Things didn't look good.
I held my teddy bear close,
As he spoke,
Of my parents and their fate.
It was just me and teddy.
My dad had an hour to live,
Mom was in surgery,
Had been for 6 hours.
The accident was bad,
I was the only one,
Who came out unscathed,
I think teddy helped me.
Doctor asks if I want to see mom,
He takes my hand,
Leading me and teddy,
Down a maze of white walls,
To room 106.
Finds me a chair,
Tells me I have five minutes,
But five minutes isn't enough,
To tell her the world,
To tell her my secrets,
That I love her way too much,
That I can never,
Ever.
Be me.
Without her.
Before I can say a word,
Five minutes is up,
And mom's heartbeat,
Is barely a blip on the screen.
I watch as she inhales,
Smiles,
Turns toward me,
And mouths one word,
"Love"
Exhales.
Her heartbeat isn't a beat anymore,
It's just me and teddy.
