Heart To Heart

We had it all figured out.
Our future was mapped out in full.
Full of future memories that we would smile and laugh for.
We cherished those non-existent memories.
At the same time, we have memories we had before it ended.
We hold it near our hearts.
Smiling, laughing and crying.
Feeling all of them at once.
A rush of feelings overcome us as we feel them.
We stop all the emotions and realize we still have each other.
As we look in our own heart we see a piece of the other's heart lodged in.
Beating and feeling the other.
Protecting the other from danger.
As our hearts smile so does the others.
Knowing we have never left the others side.
