These Days

These Days

A Poem by mysticgmekeepr

Nothing easy about these days is there?
Hours brittle and long
breaking off in the heart of evening
giving way to weeping.
Days full of fight and weariness
Looked down on by a bleached sun setting
with little promise
when the fight is done
of anything better in the morning.

No rounded edges,
nothing soft and cushioning
in the glass shards of these days
that cut and bleed
fingers and hearts too fragile to endure
the days of cockfights
and heaven’s wagers.

I am so pleasantly warmed by your really beautiful use of language. Oddly, I sensed that this was not a poem about the immediate time but precisely what you described in your note. A pleasure to read. Thank you.

VERY GOOD WORK(:

oddly enough this particular poem wasn't written out of any present personal pain, but rather the collective moments like this that we all have experienced and can identify with. It was no doubt inspired more by the global sorrow that we are all being touched by through wars and poverty, division and hatred, etc. than anything else.
Its a deep and dark and sad poem but its actually one of my favorites too.

Oh....this piece is tender and sad, and your word choice is excellent. The imagery of the shards of time cutting tender hearts to pieces is so vivid and poignant.

These lines, in particular, grasped hold of my heart:
Hours brittle and long
breaking off in the heart of evening
giving way to weeping.

Reading this poem , the reader is filled with a sense of weariness of too many bitter disappointments in life. Imagery used here, protray a landscape filled fading hope and much pain. Bringing a tear to my eyes at its bleakness. Wish i could say that life isn't this way, but i would be lying to myself and everyone else. Thank you for sharing this emotional dark poem with us.
