Encouragement for a friend.

For Alex.

Beautiful soul.

Some choose the high road

and some the low.

The path you have chosen for yourself,

is one they will never know.

It is so easy to make up lies or to lay blame,

harder still to elevate above that game.

It is rare indeed to find one slow to judge another,

That kind of patience we only expect between a child and a mother.

You have shown that quality to me,

and I was humbled to see that you avoided what was easy.

It is often lonely to do what is right,

but please don't give up on that fight.

You see so much that is wrong with the human psyche

Do not let it change who you have chosen to be.

We need people like you,

to hold up as an example of the right thing to do.

Know that I appreciate you for what you are,

one with a heart of gold, visible from afar.
