Poem about relationships and depression

Friend, do not think I'm ignoring you

or that I have forgotten what is between us two.

If you don't see or hear from me for a month or three,

it is no reflection on you, it is more about me.

These repeated depressions take their toll,

I feel like I'm drowning in a deep, dark hole.

Over time, I have learned not to talk about it much,

Most don't want to hear about pain, hurting and such.

Better to keep it inside and put on my happy mask,

Then to bring you down or distract you from your task.

Please know that if I am quiet and don't engage, 

or don't come around every day or night to see you on your stage.

It is because I am fighting and am having a hard time, 

I'll eventually be back around and it will be like old times.

I have been through enough of these to know they won't last

It will just take some time to put them in my past.
