A Story by Kathryn Smith

Hey Girl!

Read this carefully.

Please.

Just simply read!

This is a good age. You might think so, and you might not.

Think of these years as learning how to riding a bike.

You're going fall and you're going to fall A LOT.

You are also going to get hurt.

You are going to feel the kind of hurt that feels like there are endless bricks being thrown at you.

You'll be angry.

So intensely angry you will want to create some revenge.

Maybe even run away.

Girl.

Get a hold of yourself!

It's just not smart or worth your time.

*Pay attention to this part*

Fighting fire with fire is never a good idea.

It doesn't make you any better of a person in the long run.

Wanting to mess with someone who messed with you is tempting! I know!

Don't do it.

Stand tall.

Walk on.

The best part  of all is, you will pick yourself back up eventually.

We all do.

I know you might not believe me now...but it's true.

I know all you want is to be loved.

You want to be accepted. You want to fit in.

You want a great circle of friends...and you'd love to know who you are, and what you stand for.

There are people out there who will say they are your friend.

Suddenly one day you will be stabbed in the back and you'll find them trying to burn you down with words.

There are also people out there who will treat you how you're supposed to be treated.

I want you to know that it takes time to find these people..and one day I promise you will.

There will be many tears over boys..and lots of heartache.

Don't forget that this is life, and life is a lesson!

You're sick of hearing this, but there are other people out there.

Better people.

Instead of being sad about an ending, think of how lucky you were to experience a bit of love.

Live and learn from your mistakes!

Experiencing love puts everyone on top of the world.

Just remember to give him space.

Space is VERY important. People need to breathe.

At the end of the day, not matter what happens, if you are with the right person, he will know you love him.

He'll see it in your eyes.

In your heart.

You don't have to plaster you love him everywhere.

There's one last thing I want you to remember:

You are 16 years old.

You are still learning and are about to learn SO much more.

I know this could make you mad because 16 is the oldest you've ever been but...

You have miles to go.

It'll all be okay!

How do I know for sure?

Because I was once a 16 year old girl too.

Sometimes I wish I could go back and tell my 16 year old self all of this. I could've used these words for sure!

So chin up! Keep going!

I have faith you can do it.

You've got this!

Ready?

Set?

GO!

Love Always,

A girl who knows how you feel
