Flaws

Flaws

A Story by Kathryn Smith

When all of your flaws and all of my flaws are laid out one by one:

A wonderful part of the mess that we made we pick ourselves undone

there's a hole in my soul

I can't fill it

you have always worn your flaws upon your sleeve

and I have always buried them deep

Everyone has flaws.

Everyone has their own problems.

We battle our flaws everyday.

What more people should realize is, our flaws make us who we are.

At the end of the day, there could be someone who will fall in love with our flaws.

Society labels what is pretty. What is not pretty.

I'm beginning to see little girls beg their mothers for makeup at earlier and earlier ages.

How many times have you stood in front of the mirror and have had a good thought of your image?

I can bet most of us pick our images apart everyday.

We tell ourselves we aren't beautiful and try to alter ourselves.

We're all self conscious about something!

If you're reading this right now, I think you're worth it.

I think you are beautiful.

I think you are handsome.

Embrace your flaws.

We can learn so much about ourselves from them.

Someone recently wanted a picture of me.

I snapped some and was alarmed at how many negative thoughts entered my mind as I looked at them.

When really...the pictures I took are ones someone will adore.

We are our own worst enemy.

I burry all my flaws in the ground.

It's time to dig them up and finish what I started.

All of your flaws and all of my flaws when they have been exhumed, we'll see that we need them to be who we are without them we'd be doomed.
