Letter to Me

Letter to Me

A Story by Kathryn Smith

I remember when I told you that's the last you'll see of me.

Remember when I broke you down to tears?

I know I took the path that you would never want for me...

I gave you hell through all the years

So I bet my life

I bet my life on y o u

Kathryn,

Remember all those days when your heart was furious and cried?

Thinking that you weren't beautiful.

Hating yourself.

Ashamed of trying to live your own life.

Going against your parents.

Your faith.

Tired of your eye.

Tired of missing your friend.

Tired of being a loner.

Tired of all the bad things only happening.

Remember when you put all your faith into men who only played with you?

Remember how your heart felt?

You wanted to change yourself.

Remember those girls who torched your soul?

The ones who made fun of you.

Stabbed you in the back and spread rumors?

The girls who you were nothing but kind to, and were not kind in turn?

You still wanted to change yourself.

The woman you are may seem like she is long gone.

You think that you buried her in the ground.

Plotted away.

You think you changed yourself...

But my dear...

She is still there.

She's the one you've always been.

The fighter.

The one who conquered death as an infant.

She's the one who is fearless.

Brave.

Compassionate.

Loyal.

The woman with an enormous heart.

Who would rather forgive and move on than harbor hatred.

She is a woman you should be more than proud of.

A woman with a spirit that could make anyone smile.

Kathryn - be kind to yourself.

Forgive your mistakes.

Your  traitors.

The world is a better place with you in it.

Keep shining.

The hatred coming your way is only coming because your light blinds others.

And did you ever stop and think?

Did you ever come to the realization that YOU are the good thing in life that others need?

Keep loving.

Keep dancing.

Keep laughing.

Keep smiling.

Do not change.

After all ;

If your life were at stake.

The only person who could save you is yourself.

And you damn well know you'd win.
