Montya

Montya

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Montya

The Romans stole you

from the heat of Aphrodite.

Copy write broken

you became their muse,

a guiding spirit,

a source of inspiration,

a poet

to protect literature, art and science.

One of nine,

who sprang from the loins of Zeus,

you make me think, reflect.

I ponder in golden silences,

as I write in the shadows

of the space Chaucer invoked.

Many thanks Cord
It's great to think of and be influenced by such literary greats!
Though I'm not aware of this mythical figure (I'll be reading up), you showcased him very well in just a few attractive lines, very interesting. Thanks a lot for sharing it.

Thank you Thomas
chaucer bored me to tears and i was loathe to attend senior english classes in high school because of that wretched mess that he penned. on the other hand i loved the mythology and the poetry from that period in that venue. this poem sparks the memories of those writes i did enjoy in school. very nice!

Can't say I am a fan of Chaucer but he did give us the muse.
Polyhymnia? I pondered? I do like mythological imagery in poetry or as part of the subject matter. Yet another well penned piece.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
