Welcome Spring

Welcome Spring

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Welcome Spring

As morning breaks across the valley

a watermark moon is stamped

pale upon the sheet of crisp blue sky

hanging over the waking earth.

Swaying in a gentle cosmic breeze

it heralds a bright spring day

to elevate our frosted hearts

as we skip into the mundane

with rejuvenated vigour.

The prospect of exposure

to the warming of the sun

a fine fillip to our woes

and pale skins.

The discard of clothes

tempts our primitive desires

with an air filled

with amorous intention

as we melt into the demise

of the harshest winter nights.

Hey John, great work. We are getting some awesome weather over here so this poem only accentuates my excitement for the next few months. Great flow, great subject, and to top it off, an very fitting title.
