Cobweb Complexities

Cobweb Complexities

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Women are like spiders.....

"

Cobweb Complexities

Break bread with me she implored

as I walked into her web architecture.

The proteinaceous silk from black spinnerets

sticking me fast and holding me ready prey.

You might see me stupid for not seeing

the danger ahead but her complex,

tangled three-dimensional theridiidae trap

belied her Devonian transition from water

to land and the protection of her body

and her eggs.

I saw no threat and indeed did not

fear a huntress had invited me to dine.

But she expended little energy in her

quest and her aerial net had me ensnared

and at her mercy as the sticky strands

entangled my heart.

We entangle man’s hears,
We make them go mad
Do things which they thought to never do…Love
They slowly, patiently
Become our puppets
Our lovers to please
Then just with a kiss
They fall on their knees. LOL
Just kidding! :P
But this is a very interesting poem.
I like it!

Thank you Thomas.
I read another of yours that made that analogy. This one, however, is much more technical with its terminology. The spider was waiting, and she sapped the love, bit by bit.

Nice to hear a woman who does not want to be cast as a web builder lol! Many thanks Queenie.
i want to be caught in this web...gladly...

we can usually tell if it's a black widow or not.

i read this and then remember david hedison in "the fly"...at the end, caught in the web yelling in his little fly voice..."help me, help me"

if this spider caught me...not sure i would be yelling that.

Those spider webs can seem pretty damn inviting.....and the unsuspecting fly will enter without a care. Danger, Will Robinson! Good metaphor here. Lydi**
