Climate Change

Climate Change

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

When love begins to ebb away.

"

Climate Change

Cracks appear,

on the surface.

Breaking

sheets of pure love

into ice floe pieces.

Chunks with jagged edges

that simply float

away on time's current.

The melting polar cap

flooding

the once verdant soil

of romantic notions,

drowning

the heart of civilization.

Oh welcome "black". How was Malta?
What a great metaphor. You'll cause global melting again. :D

Thank you Kelly you are kind to a fault as always!
Love the metaphor of climate change, John. It happens so slowly sometimes we don't always recognize the signs until the temperature has changed and our once safe shorelines become submerged. Another well-written piece.

Just what I was aiming at. Thank you FT.
Wow, so painfully true. What begins as just cracks do have the horrifying potential to cause catastrophe, a progression you escalate skillfully in this poem.
