We are restless to settle.

Searching For Life

Why am I so sad

after years and years of hurt?

Explain it to me.

I expected to see some reference to SETI here after I saw the title and the image.
The tagline "...restless to settle..." - is so poetic too.
I wonder if sadness can be lessened by refocussing on what makes us happy as opposed to what we think might make us happy. For instance I can mountain bike, I can play guitar, I can come on here for a bit of craic with friends like yourself and get happiness from all those but if I say to myself - I cannot achieve happiness without a woman then I discard all the happiness I find in the rest of my life.

food for thought my friend...
Thanks for sharing

Thank you MS
i like this piece.....there is that idea that we should be used to the hurt after years...but i don't think we can ever get used to the heartbreaks of life...we just have to find a way to deal with them and move on.

So true Jacob. Many thanks!
It's may be the human tendency in the world today. Sadness dominates for us.
Modernity evokes pessimism.
Reminds me of Hardy's philosophy of life:
Life is about sadness and moments of gaiety are just occasional episodes in the cycle of life.
May be it's the case.
Let's keep searching. There must be some light radiating from atleast a corner!

You, dear sweet poetess, are of course correct. Many thank yous.
Many are in this place searching and they never find the way. Long term sadness generally falls into a medical condition. I find most pain and suffering fades into the darkness. And even with sad times, the good memories of that time come through stronger than the pain. Pain fades with time and happiness grows stronger.Very well penned, I like it a great deal.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
