G8 Minus One

The leaders of the world

assembled there from far and wide,

in all their hands they held

such awesome power to decide.

They were there to talk of

global matters of high import,

and what FIFA had done

to the image of football sport.

They stood, posed for lenses

all friendly smiles and stately poise

knowing each glance they made

might excite paparazzi 'boys'.

Mrs Merkel's dull suit,

meant she didn't look so dapper,

as Shinzo Abe bowed

to distinguished Stephen Harper.

And Francois Hollande shook

David Cameron by the hand,

knowing that on the EU

he just would never understand.

Barack Obama grinned,

patted Matteo Renzi's back,

only the USA's immune

to any nuclear attack!

[Meanwhile Donald Tusk and Jean-Claude Junker

were engaged in a discussion

about the situation in Ukraine

and a bare-chested, missing Russian!]

I would like to think we are immune to a Nuclear attack, but if anyone is struck with a nuclear explosion any time going forward, it will be the end of the world as we know it. There are far more nuclear devises out there than can be controlled.

Please understand my comment does not fall into the apocalyptic theory in my view. But with all the crazies with a chance to have a Nuclear devices, anyone sets one off and thing will change. I don't believe it would be the end, but it would make a major change in life compared to where it is now. I do agree with the fear of the power, but we have crazies out there running countries that I believe, are not that smart and would foolishly try to push the US. Of course as history has shown if you fight us and we win, your life going forward will be rewarded as we shower our losing opponent with money to rebuild the country and the economy.

Not at all, America is too far from its key adversaries, they are too afraid of Americas power to retaliate and obliterate them and finally America's home and away defenses are far superior. Anyway this is a satirical piece about politics in general. Not a slight on the USA?
