The Dying of the Sun

We are but flesh.

The Dying of the Sun

I am strong enough

to penetrate the clouds,

To burst through

their hatred of the sun.

I will wait for clear skies

to fall upon my eyes.

I will endure the pain

that life has written

in my script.

And I will rise

as the dawn arrives

in soft hues

and gentle rays.

I will be there

to bare witness

to my demise.
