Left For Dead

Left For Dead

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The left has a lot to answer for!

"
I never got to shake
your filthy left hand,
it never left your left pocket,
where it jangled,
your short, loose change,
as you put your left foot in it,
and on that Irish spade
with a long left side
for digging peat
from stinking
Catholic bogs.

How left of left can you go. I am thinking politics here John. It's firmly on my mind at the moment. A nod here to Irish Catholicism, I have to say that my frequent visits to Cavan had me raising my eyebrows. More by what I heard than what I saw.

You are welcome my friend.
John,
The video got my "Hogan" blood moving. (My maternal grandmother was born in Ireland.) "Song Long Forgotten" (Ye Vagabonds) a testament to Gaelic melancholy.
As to your poem . . . being North American much of your reference is lost to me . . . but again a strong poem. When I think of "left" I think of politics . . . but not sure here.

Ahh . . . now I see!
didn't you learn anything at catholic school the left pocket is the deepest, and the shallowest and the wisest, with easy access to the scrotal sac, thanks to scissors and determination, left for dead … better check that (left hand) pulse, dude, no one ever checks the right sided,
