Artemis Rising

Artemis Rising

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The NASA Artemis program will return humans to the Moon by 2024 to set up a long term colony and from there will blast off to Mars by 2027.

"

Sail me to a calm cloud

upon a starlit breeze

with a breath of angels

by my side.

Bare breasted cherubs

whose kisses are forbidden

here on Earth.

Orion take me higher,

take me to the Gateway,

to the Goddess of the moon,

let me offer myself

up to her in fealty,

so I may dwell

upon her chastity;

offer her a hero

to behold

before I leave for Mars.

Great song and amazing poetry. Men wanted to escape earth. I do understand. Maybe some light in the stars, somewhere? Thank you John for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I agree John and you are welcome.
great music choice ... i listened to it first .. sometimes i just have to do that ;) reminds me of Moody Blues and Emerson Lake and Palmer of days gone by ... very drifty and dreamy .. perfect for a launch into space .. your poem reads smooth and elevates my thoughts and feelings imagined should i be one who would cast caution to the wind and sacrifice all to be on such a bold adventure .. i am confident we will get there .. to Mars that is .. the moon walk seems almost passe' in comparison .. really enjoyed reading and the music .. thanks for sharing these lofty thoughts and feelings ;)

Love ELP, Yes and pink floyd
This is a fun poem. I love fantasies of colonizing other places.

I liked parts of that song, but some of the words felt crammed in there where they didn't belong.

love this....that poor lady on the moon. Her chastity ripped apart, but we still get her everlasting glow.
