Particles of Faith

Particles of Faith

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Science, our science, as crude as it may be today has no room for gods.

"

I defy the earth

to crush me

for I am ironclad,

and I am afire

with anger.

My skin,

a chainmail coat,

so that I am impervious

to Satan's mischief,

invincible in this

the final battle.

And god too

can go to hell!

All the deceptions

man has placed

upon me

in praising false

religious ideology,

in browbeating

humanity

with bible words

fuels my rebellion.

For here I stand,

stout, strong

and steady

as the shadow

of death approaches.

I am made

of science,

a child made of

fermions.

I am dark energy

flowing

through the cosmos.

But I do not own

these quarks,

leptons and bosons,

they are me,

they form me.

The final frontier

will see them

split asunder,

to scatter that me

across the universe.

From there

I will arise again,

I will be part

of life once more.

and I agree with Richard on how deft you are at
composing free verse...and retaining a certain rhythm that needs no rhyme.

Great minds think alike, John 'n Jacob 🤔
Especially, amongst poetic brothers.
we are energy, shadows, beliefs, non-beliefs...
but science proves we exist, anything else is based on the hope there is still something
after this...and your ending reminds me of how often my friends and I have discussed
the possibility of reincarnation...and what we would like to come back as.
my response to that is "smarter"---

You're always part of life, John 🧐

You ARE life, there's no division, no separation of all the invented scientific parts you've mentioned in the basic foundation of primal life, anymore than there's reality in a God humanity invented and had invent them (all of us) and all that is and isn't … all that sort of hyperbole subsists only in the limited dimensional world of human existence and what man has created for his own use in search for TRUTH.
On TRUTH we can only play.

Still, within the realm of human consciousness levels, where poetry exists, you've posed some rather lofty postulations few may ever otherwise ponder, and in the manner you've done so, one is left rather breathless from the mastery of your skills.
Neat title, artwork, and music choice, too.

In Free Verse, to my discernment, you stand second to none, and I am proud to be privileged in reading You, and having you available and willing to read me … maybe, until now … LOL! ⁓ Richard 🍃
