Blowing Hot and Cold
A Poem by
John Alexander McFadyen
As it says on the tin
You come on strong,
all fervent desire
and commitment.
Heaping praise and
compliments and
expressing fire
in your soft belly,
you tell me just
how much you want me.
The fizz, the fireworks
explode in gushing
rushing promises.
But when the fire
becomes an inferno
you back off.
Afraid of the blaze
you started, you
melt away.

I must agree with Jacob's comment on this poem. I've caused so much hurt in the past leaving a relationship unfinished. As the proverb says" A man beaten by snake fears the rope"........

Yes I get the point. Many thanks once more NH
I like the metaphor you created for an intense relationship lost due to perhaps fear.

Indeed I think that may be often the case. Many thanks for reading Winston
many of us suddenly become fearful of what we started...and then back off leaving someone unexpectedly hurt.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools..
