7-Day Vacation Blue

7-Day Vacation Blue

A Poem by Richard

On a 7-day vacation blue
Disappearing twice in a sun-soaked field was our tattoo
Blood from the mouth of the sorry iguana
who’s mind was racing from a hungry piranha
A Caribbean man with a light-bulb head
He had a grand idea of tuxedos made of lead
By the 5th day the sky over Peru was how do I say? Machu Picchu!
which in Latin means “let me drink with you from the spirit steam”
which in English means “what the f**k!?” .
There were detailed lines in the face of the poor
But no one was laughing outside dusty desert store .
Christmas, the 29th of January, on satellite with bells
We never used to get snow here in hell.
Dalmascan nights with scotch tape on the rocks ..
locks on our tongues and piercings and jewels
Now when we look down all we see is skeletal reflections in dead empty pools
I wish I wish I wish we hadn't thrown ourselves into unknown blackboards covered in destination chalk
but rather than sleep, we dream while we talk       .

I’ll be happy to be home in my nice warm bed
For once, f**k the couch, by my wife, instead

Author's Note

Richard
I got really frustrated while writing this . I cannot for the life of me write a straight out purposeful or focused poem in any sort of poetic format I wish I could ... so this is a response to me not being able to write a decent poem that anyone can understand

..I thought "well, so why not make it impossible to understand?"

I actually really like this.
All together, it may be impossible to understand, but the individual lines are f*****g great.
I have to admit, I have a thing for things that don't make any sense.
