The poor little yellow firehydrant

The poor little yellow firehydrant

A Poem by Richard

Passing loud cars
wearing different colored paint
they come and go inconsiderately
stomping in messy puddles
so that the people on the sidewalk
have to compete for destination X

Cars, HA
preponderate and precocious
addicted to speed, ferocious
Like a boardwalk that keeps on going
Or a sunset that keeps on glowing
Into the night
Where a city
Never sleeps
Coughs up pollution
Young men (and women) line up to visit the new live rooftop sex shop
20-something women, in cute striped pants
Unafraid of acid rain, flaunt their umbrellas, and dance and dance and dance!
And dogs do their business
And businessmen urinate
And those loud cars ..
with their careless splashing
on the poor little yellow fire-hydrant
Who cries a little whenever he’s under fire
