A Poem by Paul Bell

She has a tattoo on her breast

Hates when you touch her n*****s

Foreplay just yesterday's lies

Black underwear her hidden disguise

No use playing the love card

That died with the last affair

Now she’s one of the free

Two people lying in bed

Exploring the no-go zones

Checking the exit

Looking backwards

He tries to show love

But stone hearts

Clothe themselves in armour

Screaming the screams, of

yesteryears

She has a tattoo on life

Stamped deep inside

That reads

Don’t break glass in emergency

Don’t resuscitate

The cold wind bit right through her

But it didn’t really matter

They were evenly matched

Well, at least for a time

It was the identifying feature

On her breast

The Tattoo..

Different is good sometimes.
Painful but beautiful word-smithing. Love this!

Was pretty sad.
Thete can be nothing more unfortunate than, when the ability to love dies .... This is a raw, and touching poem.. Makes me remember about the cover ups in all of us for painful heartbreaks.. Thank you for sharing. :)

Yes, when the love keeps dying, life dies too.
Dark as Poe as you describe this damaged woman who has curled up inside and has circled the wagons around love. This one has feelings of sadness yet disdain as the protagonist describes her.

Yeah, sometimes time just runs out for some.

Love died with the last affair.... Says it all. A resurrected ghost of love she hates love for the obvious reason... Your poem depicts the anger and harshness that brought with helplessness of betrayal.... So vividly.
Glad that I read it.... Thank you

At the end of many betrayals and lost loves, the end probably writes itself.
My ex-boyfriend had tattoos and you know he was a cold bugger.Dumped some time ago.

Haha after him them tattoos kind of the creeps most days.Give me a clean guy anyway.
She is a tragic woman, scarred by life and her experiences and broken to real love and affection. I dare say she has no glass to break in an emergency; she is already shattered inside. It's a haunting characterisation and one that could well be very believable for some. The tattoo is a defining image for me; i always associate them on females with a particular type of woman and my image suits your descriptions here. A very sad portrayal rendered with realism and touching words. 💛

It is a sad portrayal for some.
Betrayal is a cruel dagger.
This is such raw, biting poetry. Someone so dead inside, a stone cold dead heart with no hope of revival and just the flesh at play. Something killed it all in the past and there's nothing left to be resuscitated. A very dark existence for her!

The tattoos must be responsible.

It was a bit of putting. I love stan. I mean, what's that all about.

She probably knows but she's not telling.
You've painted a jagged & harsh & sad portrait of when someone reaches the end of hope & seems to be living the creed of recklessness. You spared no gut-wrenching details in this one, so it leaves us feeling invaded & unclean with a few dangles of hopelessness thrown in (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It's a dark poem, I usually don't care much for them. But this one I like a lot.
