A Twilight Task

A Twilight Task

A Poem by Pauline Marie Daley

An orange light lit the dark field,

Its rays lay on waht our work would yield.

Just the five of us alone in the dark,

Tools hit the ground and left a deep mark.

The stars shone in a blanket of blue,

The trees waved as the geese flew.

The different shades of orange and black,

Crawled and leaped across our backs.

A smile crossed each bright face,

In spite of the time that our work would take,

But when the night came to an end,

A home had been made for our animial friends.
