Friends Forever?

Do friends really last forever?

Its such a very long time.

To stay together, forever, and never

drift apart, seems like a nursary rhyme.

When things happen and people leave,

All you can do is sigh.

You give them a silent reprieve,

And wave your friends good-bye.

 

But why does it have to end?

This friendship from the past.

Why can't we just, it mend?

And watch it last and last.

Sometimes things go too far.

Rules broken, trust lost.

A friendship which nothing could mar,

Is what "having fun" has cost.

 

So now we sit here, so far apart,

Wondering what could have been.

Aching from a broken heart,

Missing a broken friend.
