To The "Other Woman"

To The "Other Woman"

A Poem by Paza

He’s mine, you may have had him once,
But I got him all the time.
And honey, what you don’t know
Is that in the end his love is mine.

You may have caused his heart to beat fast,
But you’re a momentary thrill,
And now that you’ve gone and given in,
For him, you're just run of the mill.

One thing that you don’t realize,
To him it’s all about the chase,
The excitement of flirting new eyes,
That made him seek your pretty face.

Once your sheets are conquered
History you’ll be
Once he’s had his fun with you,
He always comes home to me.

Don't get me wrong, I don't condone
What you and he have done.
It makes me sick to think about,
It makes me want to run.

He cut me deep, I've shed my tears,
I've made my peace within,
For family's sake I can forgive
And we can begin again.

You are not his first affair,
And I doubt you’ll be his last,
And I’d almost feel sorry for you
Except I can’t forget the past.

You see, what you can’t give him,
In fact, what no one but me can,
Is the one thing he treasures above all else -
My love, in spite of the man.

He shows you only what
He wants for you to see,
He never shows his inner self
To anyone but me.

You’ll never look into his eyes
And see into his soul,
He’ll never let you get that close,
You’ll never reach that goal.

With you, it will always be just sex,
Between us, it’s making love
After thirty years together
We fit just like a glove.

I know just how to please him
Whenever he is down,
I know just how to make him happy
When he wants to mess around.

I know all his buttons,
It was I who found them first,
I know just how to hold him off,
Until he needs to burst.

You see, his body’s of my making,
We taught each other how,
To reach the peaks of mountains,
It's to me he’s made his vow.

We’ve celebrated good times,
Clung together through the bad,
Learned to lean on each other,
Now, tell me what you’ve had?

That night you spent together
To him never can compare,
To the family we’ve created,
And the history we share.

So you see, you may have thrilled him,
But in the end his love is mine,
Yes, you may have had him once,
But I got him for all time.

BRAVO!
This reminds me of a Def Poetry piece that I listened to along time ago...
The part that made me smile was something about:
Oh, yeah and that move you like so much? Well, I taught him that!
Those shorts you like are the ones I bought....
HA! Anyway this was a fun read
Take care
(I just don't want to ever live it!) Cheers, lea

wow - what a fantastic write; I'm not certain that cheating is something I could ever forgive but as I read this piece I now understand how and why some people can and do. An amazing piece and I loved the repetition of the last line and the subtle change. Really brought the point home.
