The truth hurts, but it's the lies that kill

A Poem by Penny Thought

The truth hurts, but it's the lies that kill. And he's killing me softly like Roberta Flack and Lauryn Hill. My heart keeps breaking, but I can't escape him. Now I'm wondering how to let go, how to move on. But how can I when I held on for so long?

I keep saying I'm done, and I'm walking out that door. But then you speak and make me want you more. Again, I'm under your spell. Then again, I'm feeling like hell. Then back to heaven when you say that phrase. Now I'm confused and a little dazed. Not confused about my feelings for you. But confused if yours are really true.

The truth hurts, but it's the lies that kill. Like when you tell me you love me and you always will. As they say, actions speak louder than words. So I waiting to see the things I've heard. Waiting to feel like you mean what you say. Waiting for my justification to stay. I'm going back and forth and up and down. Going crazy, getting the run-around.

"feeling like hell"
I really wish that you would have elaborated on that a little more.

I really like this, because I've always had a soft spot for free-writes.
The simple mistakes in here (putting just "I" instead of "I'm, etc.) are annoying, but don't take away from the original thought of the poem.

I think that if you were to go back and look over this again, it would come out even better than it is right now.
But that's not to say that it isn't good by itself.
It's an admirable piece, I just know that it could be better :)
