Voices In August

Voices In August

A Poem by Perdition

Break out the river’s bones

Children,

Swimming down in streets

Leaves

Cracking under wicked wind

All has turned

The catfish scales are over

Lungs scorched

Bottom dregs

Filled

Oxygen moves

Over moon to trees

Equinoxes

Lovers that come on the quarter

No fever is the question anymore

Everyone and

Thing

Starts again

Break out the river’s coat

Autumn

Shivers into stone spilled piers

Leaves crackling in sad aftermath

Summer the memory

Happening

Life is dying

New

Retrospect

Quarried

All sentences

Same

Bleed away

It always makes me happy when one succeeds at making a melody out of words. You just did that. Cheers.
