The Promise

The Promise

A Poem by Perdition

You stirred as morning paused to graze your skin. The sun, so stately rising vexed and sweetly sloughed its solemn cause. Your eyes in waking brushed the very birth of God, and where your hands in mine my heart played eternally …though here the absent voice announced your tears, your heart in loneliness spoke as if some distant life returned and ghostly mist recalled. With shallowed steps for days I could not feel. My arms too cold to hold this pain away and with a smile you spoke and rained into my heart as if to pray some single promise to remain. 'Twas here my love was winged and dared refrain.

Nostalgia....to love so honestly and whole must bring both great joy and pain.I am not sure I have ever felt so deeply intune....or maybe I just always kept at bay those things that chose to stab at me.....anyways...your love always seems so sure....valiant qualities........
