December In the RainA Poem by Perdition
I remember the angel's face in the street light. Our age in pallor shone through the droplets and shadows that bled beneath the rain. How coldly it had come to paint away in gray the cobbled sea of Union Avenue. My steps slowed and faltered as if hers, forever gone, echoed from my side; as if all reason was silenced. And there I stood a monster of the darkness that lives and precludes the beauty of rain. I forgave the light its amber, the night its light, as it had no other means to mourn but the world for me was over and the stars ‘neath December no heaven shall repair.
