Why Marine? Why Do You Cry?

Why Marine? Why Do You Cry?

A Poem by BriBear
"

came across a marine crying and he sad I was the first person to ever ask him why he was crying.

"
Every have the misfortune
Of seeing a Marine cry?
Everybody looks at him,
But doesn't ask why he cries
Marines are brave
They do not falter.
So no one asks the marine
Why marine? Why do you cry?

I came across such a scene
On a bench sat a crying marine
I pondered for a moment
Than wondered over to ask
Why Marine? Why do you cry?
He looked at me a little puzzled.
"Many a time I've cried on this bench
You're the first to wonder why."

In his hands he held silver tags
He turned behind him and shuffled
Through his torn and tattered
Over used Marine sort of bag.
In my hand he placed a picture
Of a little boy no older than 3.
"Was this time a year ago
I parted with this boys father."

"He was also a Marine.
I stayed with this marine
On the day of his death
A road side bombing"
"That killed a few to many
Of such a strong marine
But before his final breath
this picture he gave to me."

"He did so with a charming smile
As he slipped away peacefully.
You see this boy was long since gone.
And one marine joined his son"
Still I pondered why marine
Do you cry if they are together?
He took my hand and held it soft.
"because there are many a marine"

"But never another brother
Will I find as great and as loyal
As a Marine who in all our years
Never took the time to cry"
