I danced with you last night...

I danced with you last night...

A Poem by Elisa
"

Summer nights, you know.

"
I danced with you last night...
My palms sweat just typing those words.
Were my palms sweaty then?
I sure hope not.

The song was a cumbia
The first of the night
and under starry lanterns
I let my hips swing free
as you struggled to keep up with me.

You held my hands like you hold potato chips.
Were you scared you'd break me?
I'm sorry I couldn't look at you.
I was scared I'd melt through the floor.

Sleep blurred the picture,
But your graceful touch
and alluring aroma
will drift through the clouds of my memory...

Wow. I danced with you last night.
My palms are still moist now.
I just hope our flight together
Kept...her...miles from that precious heart
I'm trying so hard to mend.

Ah, this made me think of first encounters with a beau when it's what they call "the honey-moon phase." When everything is novel and exhilarating. Not to mention magical. And you cannot help but sweat of nervous passion and hot summer nights and you hope the other does not notice.

A pleasure! :)))
Making love, romance, & getting emerged into each other under the Summer-Night`s one of the most romantic things in the world. The poetry speaks through your 'moist' heart itself. You just bleed in words. I see it in your writes.

Hope you have had a great night. Keep smiling!

the flow of this poem gives the reader a sense of comfort but also a sense of anxiety. This poem shows love that can be shared through a simple dance. Also this poem shows the initial awkwardness of love. your poem is the definition of love.

Reminiscing all of these emotions, to her this was more than just a dance only if he knew that. I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.

You're definitely right. I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem. Thank you very much for your review!
So much emotion here - it is tangible.....the dance seemingly not only referring to two people physically dancing, but also the process of getting closer emotionally......in both cases, some stepping on toes may slip in, but hopefully, in the long run, it will just become part of the story. Striking ending too - indeed, a healed heart is what is needed before another can truly move in.
