A Poem by C. Michael Kirre

If only someone would ask me

If some gentle soul could take pity

to take my shaking hand

and lead me out of the wilderness

To shelter my fallen spirit

To dry my tears

And let me rest in their lap

just for a little while

My heart is missing

a beat

My courage have

failed me

My feet

no longer bear my weight

My wings are clipped

I see faces with no features

glide by in dazed shadows

Brother!

Why can’t you see me?

Sister!

Why won’t you help me?

Friend!

Could you be the one who bring light?

It is dark here and I’m scared.

Someone

Anyone

Please

Help me

Help me…
