The Understanding of Jealousy

The Understanding of Jealousy

A Chapter by Aventicus
"

Here I attempt to unveil the truth of jealousy.

"
Jealousy, the black mark on a soul
That leaves the bearer
Eternally empty,
Forever forlorn,
And wholly unsatisfied.
A beast that arises within the soul itself,
When gratitude is forgotten
And the world before becomes what is most sought after.
A cycle of self-fulling pessimism,
Where one spirals forever downward,
As their reach, as their outstretched arm,
Vying ever more desperately for what it cannot attain,
Becomes continuously shortened.
The further it seeks to extend it's poisoned hand
To touch and taint that which is not theirs;
To disgrace and degrade the beauty they only glare at with contempt;
To, through all vile means, rob others of their happiness,
So that all may be as miserable as they,
So that there exist none above themselves,
So that they may be deluded conquerors with an empty victory.
For they cannot cherish with joy,
With righteousness,
With love,
What was never theirs to love in the beginning,
But was merely an object that became the target
Of their starving hearts; it was a beauty they sought
A beauty they so desired to use to make lovely
The things that exposed them to be hideous.

Wow. That's quite amazing. Jealousy certainly does make hideous things of us.
