Bigotry

Bigotry

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

'Intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from oneself'

"
Bigotry

Even without sight

Someone somewhere would whisper

I don’t like their voice

Short and very sweet, Phill.. you have the skill to swipe at the world with fine words that gently hit home!

Too much emphasis on the baddies.. not enough intelligence or interest on good neighbours, good Samaritans, medical staff, public service drivers, teaching staff including first class principals, artists and opera singers, at least 50% of popular singers/musicians, actors, inventors and .. so it goes on.. and on..

Seems we have to have someone to hate else we aint happy... so forget the person who gave blood, who gave alms, who gave his or her life at times of war.. Okay, done now.. .. love to rant!

Growing up in a divided city I was very aware of the early influences of bigotry on my thinking. For many, sadly, it was a way to bond !! I'm glad to be able to say that I have had the pleasure of making friends from the 'other side' but am I a bigot because I get frightened when I am deep in 'their' territory? idk...

A truly mind-stirring piece Phill.

if we are prejudice...it's not just the look or the voice....it's just the difference, regardless...
"you are not like me"
that is so sad...and this is so well expressed

Phill, your words are crystal tears reflecting all the facets of humanity that are persecuted, oppressed, enslaved. Truth is in your poem. My heart breaks.
