Is an abomination

That needs addressing

Oh Phill, it is alway a huge concern, but these days of lockdown are sending it sky high. Dreadful for the victims who find themselves without a support network and imprisoned with their abuser. Couldn't get any worse. Pleased to see that this explosive situation has been recognised and measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of victims is paramount. Yes, get them out into hotel rooms or any where where they don't fear for their lives. Your senryu says so much. Hope all is good with you. Keep safe and well.

not so sweet. that pic immediately made my skin crawl. we don't know what others are living with. no one should be subjected to such horror. poignant, in-your-face piece ... :)

A few words, but very important ones Phil; as Guardian Ad Litem, I represent abused and neglected kids in court, many of whom come from homes with domestic abuse/ violence, which kids many times witness. It must be stopped with counseling or drug rehab; thanks for reviewing my poem and nice to meet you at the cafe. Fondly, Betty

as Chris said, the days of lockdown are only making it worse...there is never any excuse for it to happen.

I have some experience of this awful crime; not personally, but a friend of mine.

All seemed fine on the surface, but it wasn't, and what was at first, (I later found out,) verbal bullying, quickly turned to physical violence when in early 2019, her partner lost his high flying job and started drinking heavily. She was fortunate in that she had a strong family network, including two brothers, who when it all came to light, quickly took positive control of the matter.

Worryingly, I knew the man quite well, or so I thought, but I never suspected a thing during the three to four years they were together, which reinforces Lydia's point that so often such things are hidden behind closed doors. I live in a relatively small village and thankfully, the man has left the area and I can't imagine he will ever return.

Beccy.

Oh indeed it is...and it is far too prevalent in the world. So often hidden behind closed doors. Unfortunately, during this lockdown, many people are forced to be in the same apartment or house with their abuser. Tragic. Your words show your compassion. Lydi**
