A story

A story

A Poem by Nathan Mann

I could tell you a story
that would make you smile.
I"ll tell you a story.
Sit, and listen for awhile.
I'll tell you about the first girl I kissed,
or the last time that I fished.
I'll ramble on, and on, and on.
You'll get bored and ask
"how long does this story last?"
But a good story isn't fast.
And so, I'll let you know,
why the little things are so important.
I'll tell you a story that's a little discordant.
It's a story of the past,
of things that don't last.
A story about hope,
and learning to cope.
This story takes years,
and will bring you to tears.
You'll ask if it's real,
If I'll ever be able to heal.
It is, and I will.
It wont take any skill.
You'd ask how, but I'll tell you now.
I believe in fairy tales,
in love, and all that entails.
