Revolution

Revolution

A Poem by B

I see on a side walk
All my hopes and dreams

Written on a border

Framed with lines
Filed on some stamps

My children are bare

Playing with coke cans
They never had a chance to try

I sit by your door

Looking into a shopping cart
Filled with empty air

As you lend me a scarf

I got my share
Taken is mine

Digested in your stomach

Last night's dinner
Thrown out

I stood at a welfare line

Some rung bells for my salvation
Till my toes pierced just another pair

I talked to you

As you walked off
In your brand new kicks

The gap that you talk about (between the two characters) is very real. I can't help but think how many times this happened where I was the one who walked away busy in my own trail of thoughts unaware of the one who was talking to me. Great work on this poem Nisreen! :)

I loved the sentiments that this poem delivered. The more I read this poem, the more it speaks. Beautifully written. Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks ....
This pricks the emotions as we celebrate so much and do so with excess materialism.
It is good to understand those who live without...
A very fine write and a compassionate heart.

There's indeed a too big line between people, some are extremely poor, some are extremely rich. Thank you for sharing these thoughts, Nisreen. :) Rudi

Thank you Rudi :)
This is meaningful and sad, we should always try to help in the little ways we can, and even volunteering and thinking about someone else's happiness other than our own, great piece
