It reminds me of something

It reminds me of something

A Poem by Phillip J Clayton
"

Memories

"

Winter wails through the heart,

trotting on pebbles to a river.

A scarf gently hugs the leg,

no significance.

Memories come calling,

awareness, this is kerosene,

Ignite the trail, frozen tracks,

How could I forget?

Be still, gentle heart,

figments, that’s all…

I can still hear you singing,

something is there, fragile.

A ghost, there is something between,

a membrane, a permanence.

I can feel you; can’t I touch you?

The shifting between the ether.

Above the horizon now,

her fear is in the clouds.

My time had run out,

depart, a breach was made.

Whisper me sweet words,

the winter comes, this cold heart.

Before the fade…
