I Have Cerebral PalsyA Poem by Melinda McQueenTight is the road, Narrow is the mold. A straight shot to an unknown end, Yet, very clear as to where I finish.
My limbs know Limited control. Yes, “limited” is the word’s key… I have Cerebral Palsy.
I know full-well how powerful the brain, How much it can refrain. For no matter how
much I tell it to do what I wish, It refuses to listen.
It may seem I’m here in chains While the rest of the world reigns. I’m here dreaming to be free… I have Cerebral Palsy.
My speech fails me, My words come out as that of a turbulent sea. Having to try hard to be heard, I sometimes feel absurd.
Someday before God I’ll stand When He takes my hand. So I write these words As my powerful sword.
I have Cerebral Palsy… But Cerebral Palsy does not have me. © 2015 Melinda McQueenReviews
