The Purple Sea

The Purple Sea

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Purple Sea

It rolls in the deepest part,

Filling every crevice

Of the dreamer’s heart.

Surviving through the storm,

It knows its desire.

The purple sea knows its worth.

Though there are ripples,

The longer it flows,

The more its faith triples.

For how can it be

Even when the shore seems far away?

This is the life of the purple sea.

For it trails and trails

And still, strength it bestows,

Never growing frail.

Though odds press against it,

The winds of faith proclaim
Loyalty until each wave admits it.

Determination drives it to succeed

Even in turbulent times,

Reaching is the purple sea.

It roars toward its destiny

As it journeys beneath a glistening sun.

This is the faith of the purple sea.

I like the rhyme scheme and the imagery of the scene. Additionally, purple is one my favorite colors as my other favorite is orange.
