![]() Becoming A PersonA Poem by Lynn HiggsCurrent mood: ![]() Category: Life ..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It may seem trivial to some But to those of us Who know the pain of hiding It is precious treasure It can not be bought At least with money Only with hard stressful nights Times of tears All of the past Brought forward and push out Like birthing a Baby It takes sweat and pain They don't let you go easily To many years of ropes that binded you Nevertheless, you moved past the words The actions that caused the ropes to twist Hiding the hope inside of yourself As you, untangle the pain So twisted itself in knots Around your beings You relive the events The difference is You finally freed yourself From the abuser the master Of your faith was dismissed You took control of your destiny Who you will become No longer hiding Feeling like an embarrassment To the entire human race But holding your head High Saying I'm ready to become The person that has been so lost inside It's okay to come Witness to the world Letting other know your thoughts Revealing who you are Even shedding a few tears But saying I'm alive and free I'm alive not only on the outside But deep within the recesses of my spirit A flame has lit causing a wild fire Which burned all the pain away Now I have found a person inside Who is sensitive and sweet Finding the gifts that make me unique I struggle to shared Maybe I will break a few of those folkways Along the trails of perceptions However, I'm becoming a person Who will not fear The ones walking near Will love without Worrying about the stare Or those words I no longer care to hear The one thing that was right all along I am not like everyone else I am becoming the person I always was Allowed to roam freely through the world Seeking the truth, happiness and love
Finding validation from people Who look to see the person I am The person I'm becoming The person who is finally taken the keys Releasing my spirit from it trapped captivity Letting myself out to wander freely Moreover, just be me Lynn HIggs 06/06/2008 © 2010 Lynn Higgs |
